Fusion of Ceramics and Music
The ceramic musical instruments made by the Lithuanian and Latvian ceramists during the Symposium are presented in the exhibition.
Ceramic symposia have been organized by the club „Savos erdvės“ in the town of Ramygala in Panevėžys district since 2010. The symposium of this year is unique as the ceramists from Panevėžys, Biržai, Kupiškis, Merkinė, Ukmergė, Anykščiai, Vilnius and neighbouring Latvia made musical instruments, played themselves and taught adults and pupils from the local kindergarten „Gandriukas“ to make such instruments.
Making musical instruments is a legacy of humanity that has long tradition. Making instruments of clay and presenting them to the public is in harmony with the concept of the club “Savos erdvės”: to restore forgotten traditions, continue old ones and to maintain new ways of ceramics art in Ramygala.
The symposium was in part supported by the Lithuanian Council for Culture and Panevėžys District Municipality.
The exhibition will last in our museum until 10 November 2019.
