"European Archeology Days"

2021 - 06 - 11

An international event - the European Archeology Days - will take place in Lithuania for the third time. This event is dedicated to the presentation of archeological science and archeological heritage. This year, our museum has also joined the initiative.

From 11 am to 4 pm, in the courtyard of the Biržai Castle, the museologists will lead an educational lesson "Secrets of the Lost City", folk artist Igoris Skripka will invite you to the creative workshops of arrowhead casting and leather making. During the European Archeology Day, you will have the opportunity to visit those parts of the museum that are not normally accessible to visitors. From 11 am to 4 pm people will be allowed to visit archaeological storages where stone axes from 3rd to 1st millennium BC are kept and stove tiles from Mantagališkis manor are preserved.

When you visit the restoration workshop, you will see the transformation of the archeological find into an exhibit.

From noon, the archaeologists from the individual enterprise “Juodasis ežys” will wait for visitors in J. Janonio Square ready to tell about the findings from the 17th century: building foundations, furnace fragments and other finds.
