"Baroque Spring in Biržai 2022"

2022 - 04 - 30

This is a performance of Baroque music created on the basis of opera arias and authentic Baroque choreographies of the 18th c. It reveals the world of affects influenced by R. Descartes – an outburst of feelings in the form of sadness, joy, repentance, and anger. The philosopher was convinced that the good and evil of this life depends on the affect, and that they were reinforced by repetition and reflection. The programme includes the music by A. Vivaldi, N. Porporos, G. F. Handell, L. Vinci, M . R. Delalande, A. Scarlatti, L. Boccherini and G. M. Orlandini as well as the choreographic compositions by Louis-Guillaume Pécour and Raouli Auger Feuillet.

Dramaturgy – Adrian Schwarzstein

Choreography and gestures – Jūratė Širvytė-Rukštelė
